Gas Powered Games’ Chris Taylor gets his best ideas without pants

Gas Powered Games has a charismatic?and kinda strange?CEO. Hear him tell his …

Gas Powered Games is best known for the Total Annihilation, Dungeon Siege and Supreme Commander games, and one of the most notable men behind their games is CEO/Creative Director Chris Taylor. In an interview with ComputerAndVideoGames.com, Taylor shares his unique view on game development, especially the brainstorming phase.

"[The] toilet is great for me. Shower is the best. I get most of my ideas in the shower," Taylor said, "because I'm relaxed."

The charismatic Taylor spoke on various topics such as episodic gaming, sequels, standalone expansions, his love of BioShock and Lego Star Wars, but in this interview the most interesting story is the man himself. "I'm very hyper. Always have been, since I was very young." Taylor said, "My parents worried about me when I was young—worried whether something was wrong." Taylor was quick to comment that he is also "...very cerebral. I tend to think deeply about everything."

The interview also touches on the energy draining effect of most games versus the energy recharging effects that some newer games are utilizing. This line of thought, naturally, lead Taylor to expound on the zen of lawn mowing, "I don't think about steering and gas and cutting grass... I think about life. I think about work. I think about things I have to do. I recharge. I re-create. Not recreate. RE-create. I charge my batteries up."
