Carded at Taco Bell? Could new Nashville locations serve alcohol, nix drive-thru?

NASHVILLE — Nashville could get more Taco Bells, and get this — they won't have drive-thrus and they'll serve booze.

The Tex-Mex chain plans to open hundreds of "drive-thru less cantinas" by 2022 with a different layout and is zeroing in on big cities including Pittsburgh, Detroit and New York, Food and Wine reports.

Food and Wine reported Nashville was also a city targeted for the cantinas but on Wednesday Katie Brownstein, a spokeswoman for Taco Bell, said none are currently in the works.

"But it is a city Taco Bell is looking at for future plans," Brownstein said.

The anticipated new and updated stores will be designed to "express the local vibes with artwork, open kitchens and digital menu boards."

“The majority of the new ‘urban in-line’ locations will serve beer, wine, sangria, and Twisted Freezes, aka slushies with tequila, rum, or vodka,” according to Food & Wine.
