Reports indicate that the plane was the Bluebonnet Belle, part of the Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force. The crash occurred just after 9 a.m. Saturday morning, July 21. The vintage, twin-engine aircraft was attempting to take off, headed for an airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, when it veered off the runway. Flames spread from the wreckage to the grass, but firefighters succeeded in putting out the blaze. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Aviation Administration are currently investigating the crash.
