This 1979 Suzuki LJ50 Jimny was reportedly purchased new by a former member of the Greek parliament. It was acquired by the seller last year from a fellow BaT member, who performed a restoration approximately a year and half ago. Work included body repairs and a repaint in addition to the installation of a rebuilt 800cc inline-four, which is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and a 4WD system. Approximately 500 kilometers (~300 miles) have been added by the seller, and this LJ50 is now being offered for sale at no reserve with some restoration photos and a clear Greek title in the seller’s name.
Introduced in 1970, the first-generation Jimny was available as a 2-door wagon, convertible, or a pickup. This example was repainted in its current shade of yellow following rust repair and bodywork as documented in restoration photographs.
Black-painted steel wheels wear all-terrain tires. The slatted front grille, fender-mounted mirrors, and front bumper were also refinished in black, and the truck is equipped with a vinyl bikini top.
The cabin features a 2-spoke steering wheel, as well as black vinyl seats and matching rubber floor mats. A roll bar is fitted, though no doors are installed. Inward-facing jump seats with lap belts are mounted in the rear compartment. Just over 71k kilometers (~44k miles) are shown on the odometer, approximately 500 of which were added by the seller.
The previous owner installed a rebuilt 800cc 4-stroke inline-four from an LJ80 in place of the original 539cc 2-stroke triple. Power can be sent to all four wheels through the 4-speed manual transmission and a 2-speed transfer case, which reportedly functions correctly.
