NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — If you've been downtown lately, you've noticed quite the transformation taking place at the corner of 5th and Broadway.

"People who haven't been here in a while ask us, 'How's the hole is going?' We say, 'It's much more than a hole now. Basically we're topped out at the corner of Fifth & Broadway,'" said Burgin Dossett, Regional Manager for Brookfield Properties.

He says 600 construction workers are on-site every day and work is going on 24-7.

"We've constructed two underground levels for the retail public parking. We're working on the six floor of the office tower, the 17th and forming the 18th of the residential tower," he said.

Several distinct buildings are now present, including a 30-foot lobby, an internal street for pedestrian traffic, a residential tower with more than 380 units, 200,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and the National Museum of African American Music.

"The two, distinct entrances for the museum are now framed-up steel-wise," Dossett said.

As the structure continues to take shape, excitement is building.

"For the city of Nashville I think this is just incredible value-add," said Aaron Schneider, Project Analyst for Brookfield Properties, "Just for downtown to be able to deliver residential and office and retail it's going to be a true place where you can live, work and play."

The project is aiming for completion Spring of 2020.
